Finding Joy in the Quiet Mornings

Finding Joy in the Quiet Mornings

The first few weeks after the kids left were the hardest. I would wake up at 6 AM out of habit, expecting the usual chaos of breakfast, backpacks, and last-minute homework checks. Instead, I was met with silence.

At first, the silence was deafening. It echoed off the walls and filled the empty bedrooms. I found myself wandering around the house, unsure of what to do with this newfound time.

A Shift in Perspective

But slowly, things began to change. I started making a single cup of coffee instead of a whole pot. I sat by the window and actually watched the sunrise, instead of just rushing past it. I noticed the birds outside. I read a book just for fun, and I didn't feel guilty about it.

"The quiet isn't an absence of life; it's the space where a new kind of life can grow."

I realized that this time is a gift. It's a chance to rediscover who I am when I'm not primarily defined by being a mom. It's an opportunity to lean into my own interests, my own schedule, and my own peace.

Now, I look forward to these quiet mornings. They are my sanctuary. They are the blank canvas on which I can paint the rest of my day.
